About Morgan

Morgan is an author, performer, and dreamer. Her first book of poetry and prose, Revolution Song, was released in June of 2021. Morgan was raised on the stage — dancing before she could walk — she found solace in exploring emotion through various artistic mediums. While attending Pepperdine University for classical music and dance, she began exploring poetry both as a form of expression and personal meditative practice. Poetry opened up a new world for her — one that was intimate, soft, and honest. In an act of faith and rebellion, Morgan traded her dancing shoes for a pen and never looked back.

How it all began

In 2016, Morgan shared a poem in response to the global #metoo moment on social media about her experience with sexual harassment and, to her surprise, received a resounding response. Women from all corners of the US started flooding her inbox — sharing personal stories, connecting over shared experiences, and expressing gratitude after they were met with open ears. This experience prompted Morgan to create an online campaign titled: Stories: Connection is Medicine. The campaign invited women to share their stories in a private online forum and receive a personalized and handwritten poem in response. The goal was to create a safe space for women to share their stories, hopes, dreams, traumas, and heartbreaks without the fear of being judged or shamed. The community created through this experience inspired Morgan to write her first book, Revolution Song. It is her hope that its golden pages find its way into women’s arms who need the words and that it creates connection and community in a world that is increasingly marred by isolation.

ABOUT REVOLUTION SONG

Revolution Song is Morgan Hoog’s debut work of poetry and prose. Her pages — written in a time of stillness and rest brought on by illness — explore the winding journey of entering womanhood. Words, strung together with equal parts hope and heartbreak, explore all the emotions and moments that make us human: grief, loss, elation, joy, love, and anxiety.

Divided into three sections — rivers, oceans, and air — Revolution Song winds fluidly through the precious cycles of our lives, with the ultimate goal of helping us all arrive back at ourselves with love and compassion. Between each section there is a reflective essay that invites the reader to pause and look back on their own experiences.

Morgan’s writing is straight forward, personal, and honest. Reflective of memoir style poetry, the book shares stories of love and loss that have shaped her life.

The book is currently only offered in hardcover format and is being followed up with an e-book and audio book narrated by the author in 2024.

To walk slowly around the whole of ourselves and resist retreat, one revolution, is to capture the universe in our arms. We are limitless when we find acceptance. We are unstoppable when we walk with love.

HOW IT’S SHIPPED

Our team has taken great care to ensure that we are supporting the earth and sustainable business practices in every facet of our business model. Each book is shipped in a compostable box, utilizes compostable packing tape, compostable tissue paper, and a biodegradable sticker. Here is how to properly break down and dispose of all shipping items so that we keep things out of our landfill and continue to support closed loop sustainable practices:

  • Tear off all packaging tape and place in your at home compost bin or drop at your neighborhood compost facility

  • Break down the box and either place in recycling bin or compost bin

  • Compost all tissue paper inside box

  • Carefully remove sticker and biodegrade in a bowl of warm water
